Peko’s Nama Chocolates

Peko’s Nama Choco makes Japanese style, Nama Chocolates. These melt in your mouth, truffle like chocolates, originated in Japan in the late 80’s.  Nama means “raw”, but here it refers to the freshness of the ingredients.  Traditionally made with heavy cream, Peko’s Nama Choco is a healthier version and is made with organic coconut cream and other natural ingredients.

The company was formed by Sara Pekofsky after living in Japan for 5 years and meeting her Japanese husband.  Since returning to the US, Sara wanted to teach and share moments with her two daughters, reminding them of their Japanese heritage.  What started off as family time together and making Nama Chocolates for friends and family, turned into a full business.  Female owned and creating this magic out of her home, Sara has become a known entity in New Jersey and New York.

Our relationship was initiated through a shared connection to local dining website Boozy Burbs. After learning about our story, they introduced us to Sara and forged the way for this exciting partnership.  Boozy Burbs saw a similar starting point and aligned the synergy from our vision, work we do with vendors in the community, and the desire to build a New Jersey network.  In addition, both parties respect for cultural diversity and having menus that are seasonally based, while still being as creative as possible and appreciating Japanese cuisine.

In Japan the changing of seasons is really appreciated, with lots of fleeting qualities and variety in food to reflect the seasons.  Peko and Sushi by Sea offer a similar approach to their menu and offerings.  Guests will experience Peko’s Nama Chocolates as the sweet ending of their omakase.  Peko will leverage this platform to showcase their new seasonal offerings and special pieces exclusive to Sushi by Sea, and the favorites too.  Guest will have the ability to purchase Peko’s Nama Choco for instore pick up or delivery.
